Dr. Loke Wei Qiang

Dr. Loke Wei Qiang graduated from the National University of Singapore (NUS) Faculty of Dentistry in 2006 with a Bachelor of Dental Surgery and numerous academic awards, including Distinction in Prosthodontics, the University Medal, the Loh Fun Chee Gold Medal, the F.A.C. Oehler's Gold Medal, the Hashim Yaacob Research Award, Best Clinical Student and a place on the Dean's List. In 2009 he was awarded the NUS Overseas Graduate Scholarship to pursue advanced specialty training at the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio, in a five-year dual-specialty Master of Science residency in periodontics and prosthodontics.

After completing US board certifications in prosthodontics and periodontics in 2014, Dr. Loke returned to NUS as an Assistant Professor, where he received several educator and research awards, including the SEAADE-DENTSPLY Asia Research Award in Dental Education and Teaching Innovation and the Exxon Mobil-NUS Research Fellowship Award. He was a co-investigator on two National Medical Research Council grants in cardiosleep medicine and on the NUS BIGHEART grant. His research has appeared in leading journals: a clinical study he conducted with NUHS cardiology, comparing mandibular advancement with CPAP for blood pressure reduction in patients with obstructive sleep apnea, was published in the Journal of the American College of Cardiology, and his work on wirelessly operated bioelectronic sutures for monitoring deep surgical wounds was featured in Nature Biomedical Engineering.

A dual-trained dental specialist, Dr. Loke has a keen interest in oral implantology and dental sleep medicine. After more than 11 years as a full-time academic at NUS, he now practises full-time and continues to teach part-time at NUS and at study clubs, locally and overseas. He serves as President of the Prosthodontics Society Singapore, on the board of the Asian Board of Prosthodontics, and as a member of the NUS Medicine International Council.
